Cindy Cornelis
Dr. Cindy Cornelis has been a member of the Antwerp Bar and our office since October 2023. She specialises in private construction law in the broadest sense of the word.
In addition to private construction law, she has a special interest in insurance law, contract law, (extra)contractual liability law and health law.
Mr. Cornelis obtained her Master of Laws with honours from the University of Antwerp in June 2016. During her master's years, she chose a major in business law and a minor in civil law. Her thesis was about coverage over time in liability insurance.
She then began a PhD programme at the University of Antwerp in the Antwerp Health Law and Ethics Chair (AHLEC) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Thierry Vansweevelt. In October 2021, Cindy Cornelis obtained a Doctor of Laws degree with her thesis ‘Genetic data in insurance’.
She was a laureate of the biennial André Prims Prize 2020-2021.
Cindy Cornelis has been a member of the bar since 2021. She gained two years of experience in a firm specialising in health law in the broadest sense of the word. Here she has built up extensive knowledge of medical liability law and the assessment of human injury.
In 2024, Cindy Cornelis obtained the certificate for the micro-credential: Damage and compensation within the Postgraduate Liability Law and Insurance Law at the University of Antwerp.
Cindy Cornelis is also the author of numerous academic publications and is regularly asked to speak at conferences and seminars.
