Sector
Architects

The legislation provides for a set of requirements to hold the professional title of architect and to practice the profession of architect. In addition, architects are subject to the deontological rules imposed by the Order of Architects.

Duties and responsibilities of the architect

The legal status of the architect entails that specific duties with associated responsibilities rest on the architect. These include:

  • Design and control tasks: pursuant to the architect's monopoly, only architects are entitled to draw up plans and carry out control for works for which a building permit has been imposed.
  • Insurance obligations: the legal and deontological insurance obligations to which the architect is subject mean that the architect - more often than other construction actors - is involved as a party in legal proceedings.
